to establish a circular economy for FIBCs, for example. Q. Can you give us a glimpse into any disruptive technologies or groundbreaking solutions that Starlinger is showcasing at PlastFocus 2024... In addition to our SPB filter technology which I already mentioned before, we will present our state-of the art PET bottle-to-bottle recycling system recoSTAR PET art which cuts down production costs significantly, and our melt-phase decontamination reactor viscoZERO which produces food-grade recycled resin from polyolefins and polystyrene as well as food-grade recycled PET with increased IV. We look forward to meeting our esteemed customers in our booth at PlastFocus 2024.

Q. As environmental sustainability becomes increasingly critical, how is the plastic machinery industry shifting towards circular economy models? We, at Starlinger, have always designed our machines to be highly energy efficient with lowest raw material consumption and waste generation. In addition to that, we have strongly ·focussed on developing the process technology for closed-loop woven plastic packaging in the past 13 years. Today we are able to provide our customers with the technology to produce a wide range of raffia bags including FIBCs from recycled PET and PP - this is our contribution towards a circular economy for plastic packaging. Q. Considering the rapid advancements in materials science, how is the plastic packaging and recycling machinery industry adapting to incorporate new, sustainable materials? As we are always on the pulse of the market through close contact with our customers, we take into account new material developments in our process design where feasible. We strongly push the 'design for recycling' concept in the plastic packaging sector wherever and whenever possible - the most sustainable plastic bottle is the one that is collected, recycled and turned into a new plastic bottle. Q. Starlinger has a reputation for pioneering innovations. Could you share insights into a recent breakthrough in machinery design or technology that you believe sets a new industry standard? One of our breakthrough innovations is our SPB filter system for processing recycled polypropylene on tape lines for raffia bag and FIBC production. We are currently the only technology provider for the production of high-quality tape fabric from recycled post-consumer PP. The tapes meet the quality standards for different applications and have nearly the same properties as tape fabric produced from virgin PP. The technology enables raffia bag producers and users
